Abstract
The mineral nutrients Na Mg P Cl K Ca Fe and Zn are commonly quantified by Xray fluorescence energy dispersive EDXRF and wavelength dispersive systems in food matrices such as milk and cerealbased powders in order to ensure their quality control In order to optimize EDXRF use on production sites as well as in research and development laboratories the influence of the number of pellets per sample and the measuring time has been investigated The results obtained were systematically compared to data obtained by reference analytical methods inductively coupled plasmaatomic emission spectrometry and potentiometry A methodology based on statistical comparison of validation performance characteristics obtained on a recent commercial instrument is proposed
