Abstract
Tuberculosis TB is still a major health social and economic burden at a global level primarily in low and middleincome countries Cellmediated immune response controls bacterial replication leading to the absence of the signs of disease latent TB Any impairment in cellmediated immunity may result in bacterial replication and tissue damage active TB The risk of TB and other opportunistic infections is dangerously increasing also in healthy countries due to the extensive use of molecularly targeted drugs with immunemodulating properties 1 Also JAK inhibitors and particularly ruxolitinib have been recently indicated as immunosuppressive agents and accumulating clinical experiences have suggested a causative role of ruxolitinib in the development of serious infections all leading to permanent drug discontinuation 2 3 4 5
