Abstract
We describe primers and PCR conditions to amplify seven tetranucleotide loci and two dinucleotide loci isolated from the Malagasy poison frog Mantella crocea In 21 individuals from Ambohitantely Reserve the number of alleles ranged from 3 to 15 observed heterozygosities from 24 to 95 No evidence for linkage disequilibrium was found but four loci deviated significantly from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium possibly due to presence of null allelesThe first part of the microsatellite isolation process was performed while JSH was at the Unit of Evolutionary Genetics at the University of Cologne and we thank Diethard Tautz for support and Jessika Füssel for her help in the lab At Cologne JSH was supported by a postdoctoral fellowship from the MaxPlanck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Plön AC is grateful to Sabine Hagemann and Heike Pröhl for assistance
