Abstract

We report the development of 13 variable microsatellite loci for the Greenland Halibut Reinhardtius hippoglossoides In a sample of 72 individuals from Western Greenland we report heterozygosities ranging from 015 to 10 observed and 014 to 097 expected One locus was found to have a low frequency of null alleles 0065 all others are in HWE and no evidence of linkage disequilibrium among loci was foundFish tissue collections were generously provided by Mikel Casa Instituto Español de Oceanografía and Ole Jørgensen DTUAQUA Technical University of Denmark Funding was provided by a grant from the International Governance Strategy and National Centre for Arctic Aquatic Research Excellence programs of Fisheries and Oceans Canada DFO to MT and DER as well as by an NSERC Discovery Grant to DER We thank Abby van der Jagt and Sarah ReidHolland for some of the laboratory work
