Abstract
Here we report development of 44 genebased SNP markers in Zhikong scallop Chlamys farreri using high resolution melting HRM assays HRM analysis revealed that these loci were polymorphic among 48 individuals from five natural populations Further genetic evaluation using 48 individuals from Qingdao population showed that all loci had two alleles and the minor allele frequency ranged from 0052 to 0500 The expected and observed heterozygosities ranged from 0100 to 0505 and from 0104 to 0875 respectively Four loci were found to depart significantly from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium and significant linkage disequilibrium was detected in one pair of markers To our knowledge this is the first report of development of SNP markers in Zhikong scallop These markers should be useful for evaluation of genetic diversity in cultured stock and wild populations of Zhikong scallopFinancial support for this work was provided by National Basic Research Program of China 973 Program 2010CB126402 and 2010CB126406 Earmarked Fund for Modern Agroindustry Technology Research System to Dr Zhenmin Bao and Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University NCET100716
