K Newberry PFL Boreham M Sheppard A preliminary investigation of the effect of age sex and time of collection on the feeding patterns of Glossina morsitans morsitans Westw in Zambia Transactions of The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Volume 76 Issue 1 1982 Pages 79–82 https//doiorg/101016/0035920382900244Glossina morsitans morsitans were collected during the dry season of 1975 from two areas in the Luangwa Valley Zambia and from one of the areas in the wet season of 1976 In all 1190 flies were analysed for sex wing fray category and source of bloodmeal Differences in the feeding patterns in the morning and afternoon collections reflected host behaviour Warthog consistently emerged as a major host but there appeared to be some local variation resulting from seasonal and diurnal availability of hosts
