Abstract
Isocratic anion exchange separations of Group V elements from solutions containing HF have been considered for the development of Db aqueous phase chemistry experiments Separation of Nb/Ta from an HF/NH4F system has been demonstrated but has limited utility due to interferences with alpha and spontaneous fission SF source preparation The physical parameters associated with ion exchange chromatography have been optimized for the separation and sequential isolation of Pa Nb and Ta from mixed HF/HNO3 solutions A suitable procedure incorporating a series of successive chemical separation techniques ie precipitation and ion exchange chromatography has been suggested for offline Db characterization studiesThe authors express their gratitude to L I Guseva for the consultations in the 233Pagenerator development G K Vostokin for the preparation of targets for the irradiation at the U200 and U400 cyclotrons of the FLNR R Eichler for the useful discussions and thank the staff of the U400 cyclotron for providing intense beams of 48Ca This work was supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research grants no 070300430 and 090312029ofi m
