Abstract
We thank Bachmann and Hoffmann for taking a keen interest in our publication Almost all the points they raised are already stated in the limitation section and we thank them for elaborating on these points further in their letter giving us the opportunity to discuss these issues furtherThe IMS MIDAS database is an audit drawn from a representative sample of practitioners in each country that contains diagnoses and prescription data from different countries The sampled practitioners were recruited and asked to record details of the official prescription forms for each patient visit As no patient identifier was available in our dataset it was not possible to determine the number of patients who had visited these practitioners
