Abstract
Sonneratia caseolaris is a typical nonviviparous mangrove species and a key component of mangrove community in the IndoWest Pacific region Here we isolated nine microsatellite simple sequence repeat SSR loci from the genome of S caseolaris Our isolated loci provided SSR markers with polymorphism of 2–6 alleles per locus The expected and observed heterozygosities ranged from 0242 to 0745 and from 0083 to 0417 respectively Crossspecies amplification in S alba and S ovata showed that a subset of these markers holds promise for these congeneric species These polymorphic SSR markers would be useful tools for population genetics studies on S caseolaris as well as other congeneric species
