Abstract

Intact pathogenic Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae at 100 μg protein ml−1 induced transcription of proinflammatory cytokines such as cyclooxygenase COX2 tumor necrosis factor TNFα interleukinIL1 IL6 and inducible nitric oxide synthase iNOS in RAW 2647 cells After pretreatment with 50 μg surfactin C/ml purified from Bacillus subtilis transcription of the COX2 IL1β IL6 and iNOS genes induced by M hyopneumoniae was inhibited by 43 82 72 and 59 respectivelyThis study was supported in part by a grant from the Biogreen 21 Project and in part by the Regional Industrial Technology Support Business Daegu MiHyun Hwang and ZhiQiang Chang were supported in part by a grant from the Brain Korea 21 Project We wish to thank Dr John Roberts for proofreading
