Abstract
After 12 very successful years as EditorinChief of European Radiology Prof Dr Albert Baert has now retired As Professor of the Radiology Department at Leuven he was instrumental in the development of computed tomography and published many of the key original articles on abdominal computed tomography CT as well as the first textbook on dynamic contrastenhanced CT A past President of the European Congress of Radiology ECR in 1993 and 1995 he has been at the centre of European Radiology for several decades He founded the permanent ECR office in Vienna in 1992 and was instrumental in helping the growth of various European educational initiatives—the EuroRad teaching collection is just one obvious example Having built up the journal founded by the late Prof Joseph Lissner to a remarkably high position in the world radiological literature Professor Baert relinquished the editorship at the end of 2007 As readers will know the impact factor of European Radiology
