Abstract
Structural and spectroscopic characterizations of the Ce3+/Tb3+Mn2+ solely and Ce3+–Tb3+Mn2+ doubly doped phosphate compound Ca9ZnLiPO47 with βCa3PO42 structure have been performed by powder Xray diffraction and photoluminescence spectra measurements The weak green emission from Tb3+ and red emission from Mn2+ are significantly enhanced by introduction of sensitizer Ce3+ ions due to an efficient resonanttype energy transfer from Ce3+ to activators Tb3+ or Mn2+ The energy transfer efficiency and the mechanism have been estimated based on spectroscopic data Meanwhile the critical distances for energy transfer between the Ce3+ and Tb3+ or Mn2+ ions are also calculated by the method of spectral overlappingThis work was supported by the Highlevel Talent Project of Northwest University the National Natural Science Foundation of China No 50802031 the PhD Programs Foundation of the Ministry of Education of China No 20070487076 the Natural Science Foundation of Hubei Province No 2010CDB01607 and the Foundation of Shaanxi Educational Committee 11JK0528 Moreover this research was partially supported by a Korea Research Foundation grant funded by the Korean Government 20100022540 and the National Core Research Center Program from MEST and NRF 20100001226
