Abstract
Diethylammonium phydroxybenzoate DEPH single crystals were grown by a slow evaporation solution growth technique Highresolution Xray diffraction rocking curve measurements revealed the crystalline perfection of the grown crystals and the absence of structural grain boundaries UV–visible transmission studies revealed the lower optical cutoff wavelength of the DEPH crystals Third order nonlinear refractive index n 2 nonlinear absorption coefficient β and susceptibility χ 3 parameters were estimated by Zscan studies The single and multipleshot laser damage threshold values of the grown crystals were found to be 71 and 69 GW/cm2 using a NdYAG laserOne of the authors PP is grateful to Dr P Chinnadurai Secretary and Correspondent Panimalar Engineering College Chennai India for financial support and Prof D Sastikumar Department of Physics NIT Tiruchirappalli India for Zscan measurements
