Abstract
Isothermal crystallization kinetics and morphology of poly3hydroxybutyrateco4hydroxybutyrate P3HBco4HB with different 4hydroxybutyrate 4HB molar fraction were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry DSC wide angle Xray diffraction WAXD and polarized optical microscopy POM The results show that the crystallization mechanism and crystal structure of P3HBco4HB copolymers are the similar as those of poly3hydroxybutyrate PHB While the equilibrium melting point and crystallization rate decrease with the increase of 4HB molar fraction Banded spherulites are observed in neat PHB and P3HBco4HB copolymers and morphology is influenced apparently by the crystallization temperature and 4HB unit
